The Yoga Academy was founded in 2003 by Simon Low (BWY-accredited, SYT and E-RYT500). Since then, the academy has established itself as one of the world's leading yoga teacher training schools and study centres.
Our training school has met the stringent requirements set by Yoga Alliance UK, demonstrating that our courses are of the highest standard and that our graduates may use the title 'Registered Yoga Teacher' RYT as a sign of quality training, when they register themselves with Yoga Alliance UK. For international students, our courses are also certified with Yoga Alliance US. Our 2-year course is also accredited with the British Wheel of Yoga (BWY) and verified for quality by the BWY annually.
The Yoga Academy faculty of leading UK and international teachers is renowned around the world for its breadth and depth of experience. Attracting British and international students, our courses are for teachers, trainee teachers, students wishing to become teachers and for those who wish to significantly deepen their knowledge, practice or teaching of informed, safe and effective Hatha and Classical Yoga, meditation and other specified forms of yoga and related subjects.
Our 2-year teacher training course in the UK starts annually, usually in spring. We also run residential 1-month intensive teacher training courses. For the past five years, the 1-month intensive teacher training has been held on the island of Koh Samui in Thailand.
Our training events in the UK are held at Commonwork in the heart of beautiful British countryside near Sevenoaks and Oxted in Kent. Sevenoaks and Oxted are easily reached by train from Charing Cross, London Bridge, Victoria and other main line stations in central London.
We also run trainings in Spain at a yoga retreat and training venue Santillán, which was inaugurated in July 2015. Located approximately 30 minutes east of Malaga, this hillside venue is a joint venture between Santillán, Simon Low and The Yoga Academy. The 190 m2 yoga studio at Santillán features 24 stations on the Great Yoga Wall and has been designed and propped by Simon Low and his co-teacher and teacher-training course manager Eija Tervonen.
Simon Low and other Yoga Academy faculty teachers offer additional yoga training workshops and immersion events throughout the year in many of the major cities in Europe and the Far East.
All teacher training events with Simon Low are recognized as British Wheel of Yoga IST and CPD credits.
